How does the sidebar behave on narrower screens? I'd guess a lot of content server users are browsing from a phone or tablet on the couch, so collapsing the sidebar into a slide-out menu or hamburger would be important for those cases. I see kovidgoyal raised a similar point on the PR.
Either way, nice contribution — especially keeping it frontend-only so it can slot in without backend changes. That makes it much easier for people to try.

Narrow screens have definitely been on my radar during development.
I think it's usable and readable, although not perfect in look, because there’s so much information to display.
That said, I still think it’s a huge step up from the old version.
