I do. I want to have the books populated when I connect to my library. Even if I didn't want to auto-populate, I would still use the Reading List plugin because I can still populate a list and see the list any time I want without the need to edit a column. It's a lot easier. So if I was side loading manually, I'd view the list and then send all of the book to my Kobo and then remove them from the list.
