Actually, we have the advantage of the world having run a "natural experiment". For some years, Amazon priced major-publisher ebooks independently of the price the publisher wanted--mostly best-sellers at $9.99.
Then Appple and the publishers forced Amazon to use the "publisher's required pricce" and the same books were immediately $12.99-$14.99
