I prefer KFX myself, and they have managed to break fixed layout AZW3 support when it's side loaded. So might be worth having a way to generate KFX when you want to.

You can get (legit!) Windows for free for one-offs like this, and the simplest Linux VM software is Boxes. I've made a note of this and may revisit this if I choose to go down this path but frankly I prefer the "Open Dictionary" functionality in azw3 files over the (admittedly nicer) UI in the KFX format. Thanks, though.
