The only way to make a sideloaded pdf searchable on a Kindle after updateing to 5.19.2 will be to use the "Send to Kindle" option via the web and download it to your Kindle from the Amazon Cloud.
It turns out that you can now draw on side-loaded PDFs, for what that's worth (no way to export). They still render in B&W on Scribe Colorsoft.
