I tested with 2.7.5 and Linux Mint and everything seemed fine. The Name field was fully readable, the new Number field was readable, and the Text field was elided only when necessary, and all columns could be resized. Side panel was fine.

I'll check differences on Windows when I get a chance, but unless I'm missing something, the adverse affects of the new column don't seem to have been pervasive.
