FYI, in the github for nodrm, there are a couple reports currently that kindles on firmware 5.16.2.1.1 are having issues as of 2 or 3 days ago. This includes 7th gen PW and up to 9th gen Oasis 2. The github nodrm maintainer was able to replicate the problem themself. If I'm reading the github threads correctly, there appears to be a key being used that is not tied to the serial number anymore.
So...this advice may have to change.
