Really simple answer: YES

Look at Bulk mode of Metadata Edit:Search and Replace (Bulk mode happens when more than 1 book is selected)

3 steps:
0) BACKUP the Library, Bulk mode does not have an UNDO
1) Copy the series NAME to the series field
2) copy the series-index to the series-index field
2.5 ) Verify things look great
3) cleanup the Authors field (.+?)\s-\s.+ ->Authors
