I had the same issue with my shine 5. I fixed the problem with conversion firmware.
1-) Switch to kobo mode from developer settings.
2-) Install this firmware:
https://ereaderfiles.kobo.com/firmwa...8/KoboRoot.tgz
3-) After the restart do not update, if you are in the set up screen select the language and plug your eReader to PC and install this downgrade firmware:
https://github.com/notmarek/KoboToli...ges/update.tar
4-) After that you should be able to update to latest version with no problem.
