This is a bit silly, but I'm trying to come up with a semantically reasonable name for a class that formats brain implant communication. Right now, I'm just re-using a "status" class that I use for displaying computer information on a screen. But, I thought it's probably time to come up with a more semantically correct name.
- Neal Asher uses "augs" in his "Polity" series. But, that's a bit vague.
- William Gibson uses "cybernetic implants." But, it's too long.
- I think Iain Banks uses "neural lace." Still too long.
- James Alan Gardner uses "link-seed" in "Vigilant." But, that's semantically null.
- I think Martha Wells uses "augments" in her "Murderbot" series. But, see above.
- I think Peter F. Hamilton uses "implants" in his "Night's Dawn" series. Shorter than "cybernetic implants," but it could be referring to teeth
.
- EDIT: And, how could I have forgotten my favorite: John Scalzi's "BrainPal" in "Old Man's War?"
After that, my brain runs dry. Any suggestions?
