By default, the only thing that is overriden from the book CSS is the font size, because I have assumed that most people want a consistent font size across books. But if that's a bad assumption, I'd be happy to add a toggle for not overriding font sizes as well!
For now, there are toggles for various font attributes, coloring and paragraph margins, where you can choose to use the book styles, or your own overrides.
My intention is that the book CSS always should be respected, unless the user has activated an override. It's a complicated system, though, so I do find bugs occasionally -- if anybody discovers any styling issues, I'd be happy to investigate.
