Over the weekend, I installed KOReader on my Kobo and was unable to reproduce the issue there. Touch input was consistently detected correctly, and I didn’t experience any mis-detections. That said, I haven’t used it for as long as I normally would, but under similar conditions I can usually reproduce the issue fairly easily in the stock firmware.

I saw the thread and comment from hyperdimensional earlier and initially dismissed it, apologies, but after taking a closer look and experimenting over the past few days, I’m now convinced I’m seeing similar behaviour.

Specifically, when WiFi and Bluetooth are turned on, input detection is nearly flawless. When I notice a misinput, I check the settings, and in about 9 out of 10 cases WiFi and Bluetooth have switched off again. That makes me wonder: if this is part of the problem, could it be related to power management or voltage regulation between components when the radios are disabled? It’s hard to imagine why disabling WiFi/Bluetooth would otherwise affect core input handling at the software level.

In addition to touch detection issues, I’ve also noticed that with WiFi and Bluetooth enabled, the display seems less prone to the extra ghosting that occurs when highlighting across line breaks. When the radios are off, it will sometimes highlight a much larger block of text than what’s visually selected, until the screen is refreshed.

Has anyone else observed similar behaviour?

I’ll continue experimenting and will try the latest update over the weekend. If I get the chance, I’ll also try to capture a video of the highlighting/ghosting issue.
