When I read the challenge prompts here, July's alternative was 'a book recommended by someone', and I was going to use Indo-European Language and Culture for that prompt because it was recommended to me by the author of Proto after I reached out to her with a query about something in her book.

At TSG, the alternate July prompt is 'free space' so I used my interloan instead, one of two books in my challenge with titles I love. "City of Sin and Splendour" is a great name for a book, but the awesomely-named Book of Charlatans is my "April Fools" prompt and winner of 'coolest title of my reading year'. I just hope both live up toeir titles.
