Don't blame the libraries for what you seem to consider a waste of resources in purchasing romance books—most of their purchases are driven by patron requests. Just looking at the hold times for new books says the same thing. For my library, looking at the 108 books added in the last 7 days, 42 of them were classified as romance books. The wait times vary from 8 weeks to at least 6 months for those 42 books with the average being 16 weeks.
