For some reason, **if your kindle account is registered to amazon.com, you won't get ads even if you activate them**. However, **it's different if your account is registered to amazon.fr** (for some unknown reason), and after getting your ads you can do Adbreak as usual.
What I did was go to amazon.com and change my region and payment info to an address in France; after that, I went to the "Devices" tab, and then I had a new option to migrate my account to Kindle France. The option to have ads now appear on the settings. After that, I followed up the guide on kindlemodding.org
I think this is an interesting option for Colorsoft users to try, as I understand that model has a similar problem showing ads. I don't know why this happens, but I have Koreader on my Scribe now.
