FWIW, I've been using Calibre with all my libraries on OneDrive (many thousands of books across 4 libraries) for 15 years now and never ever had a problem. And to be honest, i can't imagine what could go wrong. If there are version conflicts from different devices, OneDrive will suffix the file with the Device Name. And on top of that, OneDrive keeps previous versions of all your files, so you can always roll back.
PS As far as Calibre knows, of course, it's working on local files on my PC, as the Calibre path is mapped in my environment variables.
