Was this during writing a notebook? If so, I think the palm rejection mechanism kicked in, where it mostly responds to the EMR pen inputs rather than touch events.
If this was in other screens (reading, menus), then I don’t know

The area that I have trouble with touch inputs is along the bottom edge of the screen when on the main screen. You can select the Home screen, the Library, etc. It always takes several tries to get it to change screens. In particular, getting to the Home screen, which is on the lower left of the screen, always takes many attempts to activate. I move my finger to various locations in an attempt to locate the sweet spot but haven`t been able to pinpoint anything yet. I have also tried varying the pressure I use and the length of time that I press but it is very hit or miss(pun intended). It does eventually work so I don`t really think there`s anything wrong withe the touch layer of the screen. It just seems like the touch targets may be too small. At any rate, it`s a little frustrating but a relatively minor annoyance overall.
I think that I`ll submit some feedback to see if maybe Amazon can adjust it a bit in a future update. It couldn`t hurt to try.
