So yes, in general, I have no doubt that some of the books they’ve published would work for me.
It’s just that .. I’d need a lot of motivation to even try, heh, and there are so many other books around with blurbs that make them sound worth trying, and much nicer covers...

The first book in that series is not the best, IMO (both
Cordelia's Honor and
The Warrior's Apprentice can be counted as the first and I mean neither of those is the best). I liked all the subsequent ones better (up to and including
A Civil Campaign, it went downward after that, but it's not really necessary to read further). Still, I get what you mean by motivation - there are several series where others have told me that subsequent books are much better than the first, but I just haven't managed to read them.
