Just hacked an inch of compressed snow/sleet under an ice sheet off my back steps - to let them dry off today. Driveway is a lost cause. Streets ditto. NC is totally iced in and about to freeze solid.
Update: sunlight & wind are melting the ice - still a race to see which wins before nightfall

The sun won the race on my road and on 86 and old 86, but completely lost on my driveway and our sidewalks. And I am trying to ignore the early forecast for more snow this weekend.
