I recently had the problem of a kobo libra 2 that was stuck with the flashing light and no way to reboot or do a factory reset. I believe the problem was caused by a firmware update to support the remote page turner.
I was able to fix the reader as described below.
I found the page "
Reviving a Dead Kobo Libra 2" very informative, however all I did was make a copy of the existing card that was in the reader to a new micro SD card. You could try that first before going down the route of using new firmware.
Before you start:
- I used a new micro SD card - you might be able to reformat the existing card.
- If you are using linux you might have access to a UI that will make a disk copy from the existing card ("Disks" on Linux Mint), otherwise you will need to install the "dd" utility.
1. Follow these instructions to open a libra 2 reader:

2. For help extracting the micro SD card and other information about reviving a Libra 2:

3. I made a copy of the existing micro SD card to a disk image file using "Disks" (dd).
4. I wrote the disk image file to a new micro SD card.
5. I placed the new card into the reader and started charging. The reader successfully booted up with all my content.
Hope this helps.
