I think there's something about changing rule(s) which is key to the problem starting. Try the following:
- Open calibre 8.99.11. Go to bookshelf Settings>Emblems and remove all emblem rules. Restart calibre. At this point everything about bookshelf emblems should be disabled.
- Go to bookshelf Settings>Emblems. Add 1 new rule, set for any position, then Apply. Everything looks OK, correct books have emblems showing in the correct selected position.
- Go back into Settings>Emblems (without restarting calibre) and try to change emblem position - nothing else - Apply. The emblems do not change position.
After restarting calibre the problem no longer exists and step 3 works correctly every time. My conclusion is that something about adding/changing the rule(s) is triggering the problem.
