Ah hell, yeah. That's what I think it is, anyway. Weather is weird all over. That's what happens when you get too much energy (i.e. heat) in the atmosphere.

The weather's always been weird. It's weird every year. It's always changing. What really makes it all sound so weird are statistics. You can make statistics say anything you want them to. And when you turn those statistics into averages for comparison, it makes everything sound weirder still. I remember up through the '70s everyone was convinced we were on the verge of the next ice age and were going to freeze if we didn't do something about it. Well, I guess we've done something about THAT alright. Turned THAT problem 180 degrees in the other direction as now we're told. We just can't seem to get it right.
