I may be wrong, but I think the 8" models will follow the same path as the 5" ones. 10" e-readers, which until recently were marginal, are becoming more widespread. I think this screen size will end up becoming the standard (if it hasn't already) for those looking for something larger.

Around the 8" mark, there is the Kobo Sage (which is difficult to find in some places) and the PocketBook InkPad 4. Onyx Boox has not had an 8" monochrome e-reader on the international market for some time now, and I don't think the Tab Mini C (colour) is manufactured anymore either. Nor do I think Bigme has anything updated in 8". On Android, only Meebook remains (and a few brands for the Chinese market). I don't see Amazon betting on an 8" e-reader, and Kobo is the eternal wait. Right now, it's a bad time for those who want an 8" e-reader.
