That only works if the margins in the css are defined as "margin-left" and "margin-right". Often they're just lumped all together under "margin". For example, "margin: 0 1em" - the first number is top/bottom, the second left/right. Or "margin: 0 1em 0 2em" - top/right/bottom/left respectively.
