Quick question: if you're stuck in an update loop because of new firmware you tried to sideload, do you really need to use a new MicroSD card? I don't think my card is faulty, and if possible I'd like to make things simple by, once I get the Kobo open and can remove and access the SD card, just replacing the botched firmware that's on it now with the original firmware.

That was the problem I was having trying to get my daughters Glo working after she did the factory reset.
Finally got the 'Connect to computer' or 'Set up using wifi' prompt. Wifi wouldn't connect even tho it was the correct password. I even disable my routers 5ghz and tried...no luck. Computer setup told me to go and download the desktop software which is no longer available so I was stuck unable to get out of the setup screen.
I figured I'd try and sideload an update file which totally bricked it, display ended up split and unresponsive.
I took the plunge and thanks to the image file from here and formatting, imaging and partitioning software and a new 8G SD card to replace the original 2G, I was able to get it going.
It works great now and not a heck of a lot slower than my Clara HD.
