Kindle age restrictions (Android app)

(Putting this here even though so far it only applies to the Kindle for Android app and not e-ink Kindle devices.)

The recently released Kindle for Android version 8.137 contains code to support age restrictions in conjunction with the Google Play Store. Here are some messages that the new Kindle app can produce in certain circumstances:

"Based on our records, this app is being used by someone under 13. This app is rated for ages 13 and up. To comply with laws that protect children online, you are not allowed to use the app."

"Under state law, teens need a parent or guardian to buy or borrow titles. Ask your parent or guardian to acquire the title for this account from their device. The book will appear in your Kindle library once they do."

"Under state law, teens need a parent or guardian to buy subscriptions. Ask your parent or guardian to sign into this account from their device to subscribe."
