Hi guys. I've had a Boox Note X5 (china domestic, carta1300 screen with 750G soc) and since I cant install google play apk on it, I rooted it and flashed gapp through magisk. There is no problem with the 4.0.2 firmware.
Here is my procedures:
1. Boot into bootloader, check active slot (a/b, mine is a)
2. Boot into EDL, load the Palma2 loader (same 750g SoC)
3. Pull the boot image from the active slot using
Code:
edl /u /r /pboot_a boot.img
4. Patch the boot image using magisk
5. Flash the patched boot img to active slot
Magisk works. After that I just flash Gapps through magisk
I updated it to 4.1.1 by this method
1. I pulled the latest update.upx 4.1.1 firmware (the full ota one, not incremental one, since it's 1.9GB). Using this link
Code:
https://data.boox.com/api/firmware/update?where=%7B%22buildNumber%22:0,%22buildType%22:%22user%22,%22deviceMAC%22:%22%22,%22lang%22:%22zh_CN%22,%22model%22:%22NoteX5%22,%22submodel%22:%22%22,%22fingerprint%22:%22%22%7D
2. I put the update.upx into the root folder. Then update it by the default updater to 4.1.1
3. After updating to 4.1.1 I format everything and do the same as before
However, after updating it to latest 4.1.1 firmware, there is some problem with rooting. Magisk just freeze, no crashing, no nothing, just freeze when run. (attached photo)
Anyone have ideas what went wrong? Thank a lot
