Last night's snow was not as deep as predicted (up to 8 inches was the forecast) because warm, moist air moved up from the south more quickly than expected. So, we got 4.5 inches of wet, heavy snow instead of 8 inches of dry, fluffy snow. The liquid equivalent was probably the same, but the heavy snow that we got was like shoveling wet cement. I surrendered to reality and hired a couple of young guys to clear the driveway.
There's a coating of ice at the bottom of the driveway, near the garage door, and some slush on the slope of the driveway. They've been salted but they'll freeze again tonight -- the temperature is supposed to drop to 15°F -- so I'll leave the cars at the curb and bring them down tomorrow after I salt the driveway again.
