About the only advice I have, is that you NOT purchase from the store you bought the jetbook from.
If you are that unhappy with your jetbook, definitely sell it an go another way. We have members here who are delirious about their Sony505's, (just don't tell them which color you got), and those who love their Kindles. The lack of lighting is not as issue, because the clip on lights are so unobtrusive.
Because of the clarity issue with the 700, I would also suggest you see it in person to make sure you are happy with the display. The K2 also has issues with contrast, but the K1 hasn't.
Any device you get will be best for you, with a little research. Best of luck on your choice.
