KoboPatchFan is not presently working with any of the new new firmware versions. So that's out.

The firmware page is consistent. It does list 4.38.23555 for the Aura One. Also, in the Kobo Developer's forum, there are patches for 4.38.23555. Most will work. But not all.

So you can update to 4.38.23555 for your Aura One and you can patch the firmware.
