I would be very leery of using the file system to copy anything into a functional Library folder. One simple looking variation can cause a lot of grief.

Can you get a Network share (ethernet cable connection on both) To that old unit? I have had decent luck. PULLING (all activity is done on the Main computer) from my intake computer.
CALIBRE NOT RUNNING ON OLD when doing this.
SET preferences: Adding Books: Adding Actions (a tab): Auto-merge: create a NEW record. (allows you to manually choose what to actually keep/merge after review)
In Calibre: Switch/Create: Use Existing: <the remote Library>:Select book: right click: copy to Library
