First of all, congratulations! I love my Kobo Sage too. Aside from it being a bit heavy and having poor battery life, its size is perfect for reading manga.
It must be mentioned here that Nickel's EPUB viewer is based on EPUB2, while KEPUB is based on EPUB3. All Japanese eBooks must be converted to KEPUB. There is no doubt that the development team of Japan's Rakuten Group was involved with the KEPUB renderer.
It even supports Shueisha's manga EPUBs, which have a special structure.
