Koreader 64 bit - Boox go 7 - Large directories

Hi everyone,

I recently set up KOReader (latest Android 64-bit build) on a brand new Onyx Boox Go 7 Black & White. I am using a fresh 256GB SD card to store my library.

I am encountering a significant performance issue regarding file navigation. I have approximately 12,000 EPUB files stored in a single directory (/books) on the external SD card. When I attempt to open this specific folder via the KOReader file browser, the app freezes.

Consequently, the system triggers the standard Android "App is not responding" (ANR) pop-up. If I choose to "Wait" repeatedly for about 15 minutes, the folder eventually opens and populates the list.

I recall observing similar behavior on my previous jailbroken Kindle with large directories, which leads me to suspect this might be related to how KOReader parses or indexes folders with a high file count, rather than a specific hardware limitation of the Boox.

My questions are:

1. Is there a known workaround to handle large flat directories more efficiently on Android?

2. Are there specific settings (perhaps related to metadata extraction or caching) that I can toggle to prevent the app from hanging during this process?

Thanks in advance for any insights,

C.
