[QUOTE=DNSB;4551925]For what it may be worth, my calibre install used to shut down too fast to notice any delays. I've used the
Backup configuration folder(s) plugin installed for close to a year now and it does slow my shutdown so it now takes ~12 seconds to shut down.
[QUOTE=DNSB;4551925]Please note that this delay is not a "
MAJOR BUG" in calibre but rather the result of having to create and save a .zip archive of your current configuration folder. In my case, the majority of the .zip file is occupied by a backup of my current plugins. About 99.4MB of data is stored in the 81MB .zip file.

I don't use the "Backup configuration" plug-in, whatever that it.
About the only plug-ins I have installed are ones to get more metadata and additional covers.
AND, FYI -- I just restarted Calibre using the
Start with NO 3rd-PARTY PLUGINS option and, it STILL took about 2 minutes to shutdown for me.
So it would seem this is
NOT a 3rd-party plug-in problem. So,
YES, I do think this is
a Calibre Bug.
PLUS, I forgot to mention, when it is shutting-down, if I do anything else, even touch any keyboard key, Calibre -- in the process of shutting down -- then become
"Non-Responsive" -- and I am forced to use the Task Manager to shut it down!
Because of that, I have just taken to using the Task Manager to shut Calibre down.
As far as the other suggestions people have offered, I will have to see if I can work out how to do them and a time that I can do them. I have physical health issues and spending time trying to do some of these computer restarts and other potential solutions can take me a lot of time and effort to do.
And, yes, I am upset that after using Calibre for decades, shutting it down NOW had become such a major pain in the butt.
