I doubt it due to limited RAM.
The old mobi is only HTML3, a small step-up from plain text. The later AWZ3/KF8 was backported to K3 and later. It's very similar to epub, especially epub2, so conversion to/from is very good.
The K3 is the first useful Kindle.
