There should be no difference between the devices that nickel sees and what koreader sees. As they both use the same dbus command to get the devices.

I'll be having more of a play over the weekend, I'll look at those links and the current issues and go from there. I'm at work at the moment so haven't go the time to invest in sorting unfortunately.
