We had a neighbor who work at a company in Santa Barbara whose company made a teaching machine 'Tutor Text' (1958) which used a film strip and mechanical 'Logic' to accomplish the multiple choice, with a diagnostic response for incorrect answers (and a return to the question for another try).
Their was a Textbook format for each frame. (turn to 43, go back to 12, Next)
