There's the standard Linux key mapping that's built into Android.
Then there's the goofy key mapping that Onyx inserted in framework.jar
I don't know much about that because I always disable it.
The Onyx mapping can handle short/long presses which means even a PgDn from a real keyboard does not react until you release the key.
Your solution? I don't know.
I just disable the Onyx stuff, use reasonable keylayouts and make sure my apps handle keys.
