I am having the same issue. I am trying to connect my Flipper Zero to the Kobo so I can use it as a page turner, but the Nickel's bluetooth menu won't recognize the Flipper. So, I tried SSH in to connect using bluetoothctl, but I am getting the same message as you. I tried to use ChatGPT to troubleshoot the issue, and here's what it told me:
Quote:
Your Kobo Libra Colour uses a MediaTek (MTK) Bluetooth stack that’s separate from Linux/BlueZ, so:
✅ Nickel can connect to headsets and keyboards using its own private MTK driver.
🚫 bluetoothctl and bluetoothd cannot access that hardware — the kernel interface isn’t exposed to normal Linux userspace.
⚙️ That means you can’t pair to non-standard devices (like your Flipper) using command-line tools.

But I don't know whether or not to trust what ChatGPT is telling me, so if anyone figures this issue it would be greatly appreciated.
