Thanks everyone for explanation. It does make sense now, although the aftertaste of weirdness still remains.
It makes sense for Bookeen as far as "seeing a way to rake in a lot of cash fast" is concerned. I am not opposed to them making a different Cybook for Weltbild and put in all the stuff Weltbild deems necessary. But they should have labelled it differently. Having two devices which are looking the same but with different formats supported is the worst idea ever and none of their customers will thank them for that. What's so hard about changing the name (at least slightly) when realeasing it with a new FW which doesn't do mobi anymore (aside from the fact that right now it doesn't do html and txt either, according to what I read on other threads).

As far as the blog is concerned: That would have been a perfect place to tell customers what is happening. No mention there that they would do 2 different FWs, all they said is that ePub support was coming which would lead the average user astray as I am sure not too many people out there have heard about the "single DRM-only policy" Amazon is enforcing. So most people reading the blog would think they can read ePub books they buy in a store on the Cybook which will never be the case (the fact that the Weltbild devices don't have mobi-DRM seems to prove that it will be the same the other way around for existing users).

I wonder why they still have that blog as they have still to post one useful information on it...
