Probably a bug but posting here in case I did something stupid.

e-reader: Pocketbook Era Stardust Silver, a PB700, which says it's running software version U700.6.8.3245

KOReader: koreader-pocketbook-v2025.08.zip from https://github.com/koreader/koreader/releases.

Host: Debian Trixie, Xfce

Installation procedure:

1. Downloaded, checksummed and extracted koreader-pocketbook-v2025.08
2. With PocketBook Era not sleeping, connected via USB and clicked PC LINK
3. Used Thunar to mount the PocketBook Era
4. rsync -a /tmp/koreader-pocketbook-v2025.08/applications/ /media/c/PB700/applications/
5. rsync -a /tmp/koreader-pocketbook-v2025.08/system/ /media/c/PB700/system/
6. Used Thunar to eject/unmount the PocketBook Era
7. Disconnected USB
8. Rebooted the PocketBook Era.
9. Pressed the Apps icon
10. Did not find KOReader listed
11. Did find, under USER'S, @koreader

Fix attempts

1. chmod 555 /media/c/PB700/applications/koreader.app

Possibly relevant: software version 6.8.3245 is not listed at https://pocketbook.ch/en-ch/support?model=1720. The nearest were 6.8.2911 and 6.8.3246
