Agreed, and I'm longsighted. The reading glasses are best at a shorter distance.
Some people have a use for a page turn remote, but most don't. I expect it would also impact run time between charges far more than the same gadget on a phone or tablet.
I prefer buttons and they can easily be ignored. Not too hard to even cut the covers off and fill as the real buttons/switches are below the front panel. However some ereaders have flush page turn buttons, e. g. Pocketbook and old K3.
