But still one question: What should I do when a new Sigil version is published? Need I only remove the AppImage and replace it by the new one, or what is best?
When I downloaded and opened the present one, like by a miracle, there were all my plugins I formerly had chosen integrated.
I have Ubuntustudio 24.04. My update procedure for a new issue of Sigil takes only a few moments and updates the desktop launchers too.

I created a directory (folder) for appimages. After download of the appimage and its checksum, I move them to that directory, right click on the appimage file in the Dolphin file manager app, select Properties, and in the next dialog, there is a tab to verify the checksum. Next, still in the file manager, and still in the Properties dialog there is a tab for Permissions where I make the appimage executable.

Then, in the desktop app launcher, right-click on the Sigil entry and edit the name of the executable to the new version. After the first time, the path remains the same because I always place the new appimage in the same directory so only the name needs changing.

Then a click on the Sigil logo in the desktop launcher and the new version opens ready to use.

The whole operation takes a couple of minutes or less - similar to the download time.
