Yeah! That did the trick! Thank you so much.
Followed your guide, Kobo went back to v4.4.9439.
enabled sideloadedmode, updated to 4.38.23429.
installed NM and Kobomail...
everything went fine and smooth.
everything is working now/again

Thank you so much!

Code:
ExcludeSyncFolders=(\\.(?!kobo|adobe).+|([^.][^/]*/)+\\..+)
ExcludeSyncFolders=(\\.(?!kobo|adobe).+|([^.][^/]*/)+\\..+)|(screensaver_old)
Yes, tried it with uninstall file.
but obviously there was something totally messed up.
This was my Kobo eReader.con after reset (factory reset, not your way)
Code:
[ApplicationPreferences]
CurrentLocale=en_US
EarliestChangeLog=4.38.23171
HomePageViewVisitCount=1
LastFTEStep=BEGIN
SideloadedMode=true
firstRunDate=@Variant(\0\0\0\x10\0%\x8d\x13\x3\xc5\x13K\x2)
lastPlugTime=@Variant(\0\0\0\x10\0%\x8d\x13\x3\xcc\xdc\xa0\x2)

[PowerOptions]
FrontLightLevel=5

[ReadingLife]
FacebookAuthToken=
FacebookName=
FacebookTokenExpiry=@Variant(\0\0\0\x10\0\0\0\0\xff\xff\xff\xff\xff)
weird....

thanks for your help!
