@tomsem you can't do back/fore to your liking with Apple Books; so while the rest is available, the stock options for colours make it a no go for me.
(the most pleasing/easy to my eyes is a shade of grey with just some blue in it, don't have the RGB at hand right now, but that with a light grey font? I can read for hours. As in literally for hours longer than with any other combo; not giving that up. Got Linux to thank for that, used to be a distro whose name i don't even recall anymore, they were based on Arch, had this exact shade of grey for background, you could tell how easier it made it for your eyes instantly)
@The Old Man if i had to do all that once a day, every day (i read a lot), i'd have stopped reading my good man. Way, way too many steps for this fossil. Though i do appreciate the input.
@jackie_w i didn't even know that was possible, thank you so much! Will experiment during the weekend for sure. So far i've tried changing the line spacing from 'output options' was it? Or 'common behaviour'? In preferences, but i found it so inconsistent book to book, i eventually gave up on it altogether.
