When I suggested reporting the post with the superseded attachment I had Jon's problem in mind - he couldn't remove attachments from his posts. Given he has a post count > 80K that's a malfunction at the board level.
If post A gets quoted in post B, any attachments to post A will appear in the quote within post B. To remove them requires the intervention of whoever owns post B, or a mod. I cleaned up a couple I spotted yesterday.
