Everyone has their own preferences, and it's normal for us not to agree with each other.
If you're using KoReader then the built-in reading software really isn't important. I don't use KoReader (I would imagine most people who use Kindles don't). I didn't even know it was still an option to jailbreak a Kindle and install KoReader. Have I missed something?

Choice is good. I wouldn't tell you what eReaders to buy or how to use them. I'm sorry if anything I said came across that way. I was simply stating one reason why I (personally) prefer other eReaders to Kindles.

Not necessarily so. I would guess more people buy Kindles because they're more easily found. (At least that's the case in the U.S., where i can go to Best Buy and pick up a Kindle — something I can't do with a Kobo or any other brand of eReader in the United States.) I'm guessing a lot of people who buy Kindles don't even realize they have any other choice.

Just so you know for any future conversation, when I talk about Kindle firmware I'm talking about its built-in firmware (and reading application). I tried KoReader on my Nook and PocketBook and, though I liked some of its features, overall I preferred the built-in reading applications and I uninstalled KoReader.
