The thing is, what is simplest and most convenient for you is not necessarily so for others. For me, any syncing via wifi is certainly not the simplest and most convenient way, because I prefer to keep wifi off as much as I can. Finding my place manually is both simpler and faster than
- switching wifi on
- waiting for syncing to finish
- switching wifi off,
to say nothing of unwanted and inconvenient firmware updates hitting me when wifi is on (yes, I prefer to keep wifi almost always off for this reason, and did so even back in my Kindle days).
