Calibre creates multiple copies of unknown m4b books during auto add

I have Calibre set up to watch an import folder for epub and m4b audiobook files. When I drop the epub in the watch folder it handles it fine, as I would expect. But when I drop an m4b file, it adds the files as an m4b, but also seems to make multiple copies of an unknown database folder and file entry. It creates a folder with two files in it (metadata.opf and Unknown - Unknown). It seems to be making multiple copies of this m4b but I have no idea what setting to change so it stops doing this.

Both the m4b AND the unknown files are showing up. I have two plugins enabled for Audiobook metadata and Audiobookshelf. I tried disabling both, but the system continues to add the unknown records. The only thing that stops the 30k records so far from being added is to turn off the auto adding in the preferences. All books (epub and m4b) show as expected but there have been over 30k unknown entries created and if I turn on the auto adding again, it starts up again.
