You may want to try an incremental upgrade of the firmware. Check your current version (More => Settings => Device Information) and try a version that is a few versions newer than your current version (current version is 4.0.xxxxx, try version 4.10.xxxxx and work your way up to the newest version for your device).

The older firmware does not support the TLS security protocol needed to connect. I'm assuming that you can connect to your computer using USB to copy over the newer firmware. If you are not in Europe, you should still be able to try the Kobo Desktop application to see if it connects to your Aura Ed. 2.
